Welcome
What knowdust is, how it works, and where to start — a markdown notebook that keeps every version of every note.
knowdust is a markdown notebook that keeps every version of everything you write. You log in, you write, and every save is quietly kept — so you can always go back to how a note looked an hour ago, or a year ago.
There is nothing to install and nothing to configure. If you can type, you can use knowdust.

Two pages get you from zero to writing:
- Quickstart — sign up, write your first note, and see version history work. Five minutes.
- Markdown basics — never heard of markdown, or unsure what
#and**mean? Start here. No experience assumed.
The short version of how knowdust works
You write in markdown — plain text with a few simple symbols for headings, bold, and lists. Your notes are real text files, not entries locked inside a database.
While you write, knowdust saves automatically. Each save becomes a version — a snapshot of the note at that moment. Open the history rail and you can read or restore any earlier version. Restoring never deletes anything; it just brings the old text back as a new version. Nothing you write in knowdust is ever silently lost.
And your notes are always yours: you can export everything as a .zip at any time, on any plan.
