What's free, what Plus costs and adds, how upgrading and cancelling work, and the 7-day refund guarantee.

knowdust has two plans, and the line between them is simple: everything you need to write is free; you pay for how much history and storage we keep for you.

Free

The free plan is the real product, not a trial. It doesn't expire and needs no card:

  • The full editor — write, split, and preview, autosave, focus mode, Vim keybindings
  • Version history: browse and restore the last 7 days
  • 200 MB of storage
  • Export — one note or everything — always

Plus

$5/month, or $48/year (which works out to $4/month — 20% less). Plus adds the two things that cost us something to keep:

  • Your whole version history — every version, back to the first save, forever, with one-click restore
  • 10 GB of storage

Upgrading

Settings → Account → the Upgrade to Plus link, or the pricing page. Payment is handled by Polar, our merchant of record — knowdust never sees or stores your card details. Plus is active the moment payment completes.

Upgrading also reopens the past: versions older than 7 days from your free months become browsable and restorable again — they were retained, just out of view. (Version history explains.)

Managing your subscription

Settings → Account → Manage billing opens Polar's customer portal, where you can switch between monthly and annual, update your payment method, download invoices, or cancel.

Cancelling stops future charges; Plus stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account moves to the free plan. Your notes are untouched — history beyond the 7-day window simply becomes unavailable to browse until you're on Plus again. Nothing is deleted.

Refunds

Your first purchase — monthly or annual — comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Email [email protected] from your account email, or use the Polar portal. Note that cancelling is not the same as requesting a refund — the guarantee covers the first 7 days after your first purchase.

If you go over the storage cap

Saving pauses until you're back under the cap — but your notes stay readable and export always works. Free up space by deleting notes you don't need, or move to Plus for 10 GB. You are never locked away from your own writing.
